Briefs and submissions
The Kealey Commission traveled to ten Ontario communities to hear

Special Interest
Groups
|
As I read through the list of names of those who voiced their
concerns about condo corporations I was surprised to learn that city
mayors, planners, engineers, regional councillors and clerks are
listed. So are aldermen including Norm Kelly and MPPs Ed Philip, Dennis
Timbrell and Frank Drea.
A surprising number of condo directors and owners participated in these
hearings since condos only existed in Ontario for barely ten years. It
appears that condo owners were given the same opportunity to be heard
as
civil servants, politicians and the special interests.
It is interesting to see that the Kealey Commission refers to the
industry lobby groups as "special interest groups" while the 2012
Ministry of Consumer Services' Ontario's Condominium Act Review refers
to them as "Experts".
