Ad hoc committees
The board is empowered to delegate limited responsibilities to
different
committees.
If there is a project or a study that is unique or of a short duration
that needs to be done, the board can create an ad hoc committee to
perform that task.
Such committees could be formed to search for a new property management
company, hire a new superintendent, negotiate a contract for a
communications provider or negotiate a union agreement for the
corporation's employees.
Unless the resolution creating the committee states otherwise, quorum
will consist of a simple majority. The committee needs to appoint a
secretary as minutes of the committee meetings need to be taken.
The committee works under the authority of the board and the board can
determine who will be appointed to the committee and determine the
scope of the committee's duties.
Once the project or task is completed, the committee is disolved.
