The
gangsters & the residents
There were/are a large number of drug and gun dealers operating out of
YCC #42 but aside from the loitering and
drug use in the staircases, the ordinary residents were not bothered by
the gang members.
One exception is that a few residents had their door keys yanked out
of their hands as there was a constant demand for entry keys.
There was crime, serious crime in the staircases, in the parking garage
and the nearby park but it was targeted dealer-user crime so the
infrequent stabbings, shootings
and the odd murder did not personally affect the law-biding residents.
In fact, the residents at 320 Dixon did not live in fear from the drug
dealers and it was a safe community for the women and the seniors.
