Education
A condo corporation has to have both a formal and an informal training
program for the directors, committee members, volunteers, the owners
and the
residents.
Having informed owners is so important.
I am trying to figure out how to get owners involved, get them thinking
what their condo community is and how to get them to understand that
they need to pitch in.
It isn't expected for them to cut the grass, water the flowers, spray
for grubs, shovel the snow, change the lights in the parking garage or
caulk the windows of a 48 floor condo but that doesn't mean that home
ownership should mean no effort at all.
If they understand how their
condo operates and what their monthly expenses pay for, they will
better understand what the board is doing and the directors should
receive a lot more support.
Explaining
the annual budget
Here
is the graph that the City of Toronto published to explain the 2015
budget to its tax payers. Notice that the third biggest cost is the
service of its debt, the cost of spending money the city didn't have.
A similar chart would be a great way for a condo board to help explain
its annual budget.
