Reports to owners
—every three months
Why should the condo corporations be required to send the owners a
report every three months? That is a lot of effort with little reason
to think much good would come out of it.
The costs would include higher management fees, reproduction expenses
and the price of postage. These costs are not insignificant for some
condos who need to watch their dollars.
Every six months would be far less costly. If the Act mandated that the
report be sent once a year, six months after the AGM, that would be
even better.
Shared facilities
Bill 106 is silent about the shared facilities corporations. They have
annual budgets that can run into the millions and yet the owners often:
• don't know who is on the board
• don't see the shared facilities audited financial statements.
• there are no shared facilities corporation AGMs.
• no reports from the shared facilities to the owners at their condo's AGMs.
Where is the consumer protection in this?
