One leaky condo unit
This has to be one of the biggest and longest running cases of condo
madness I have ever come across.
You need to read "Marina Del Ray Condominium Nightmare" to hear
Christina Sobolak's story of an owner that has a condo unit that
water damage has made uninhabitable.
She certainly can't sell it.
Christina has added new information to this website that keeps her
readers up-to-date on the events taking place at 2261 Lake Shore Blvd.
West.
The Condo
Game
Christina's story was mentioned in the 2013 CBC documentary The Condo Game where the
documentary showed the water damage that exists in her unit.
The documentary also showed the AGM at the Marina Del Ray where the
owners discussed the spending of Reserve Fund money to renovate the
front lobby instead of replacing leaking water risers in the building.
Blog—Urban
Toronto
The Condo Game was discussed on Urban Toronto where one critic wrote:
"I know something about this case,
she basically turned down the repairs of her condo because she felt
that she should be compensated for more than the declaration specifies
and then tried to sue for 15 million, the condo corp's insurance
company has obviously not caved in and it is working its way through
the courts.
She will no doubt lose, as she has
refused to settle out of court.
The MDR condo is one of the better
built in Toronto and has a healthy reserve fund. She is lying about the
special assessment on the condo and the update to the lobby she is
speaking about was already budgeted for.
It's too bad that the film producer
was so hard up for subjects for this doc that they included this
person. It really hurts their credibility."
An owner publicly criticizing their condo corporation, is not a popular
person, especially within the condo. Everyone is so afraid that if the
public learns about their dirty little secrets, it will drop their
property values.
